We’re planning to trial a new SBC format called the Business Hot Seat, separate from our regular monthly meetups.
In this format, four people will meet over coffee for about an hour, with the entire session focused on helping one member with a specific business challenge. The aim is practical ideas, honest feedback and clear actions.
If the trial goes well, we’ll rotate the Hot Seat between members over future sessions.
Who
We will be looking for four people from different types of business/backgrounds. No direct competitors.
Hot Seat: the person in the Hot Seat will identify one specific business challenge they want to explore or brainstorm.
Guide: we’ll have one person to act as a guide, to keep the meetup flowing and staying on-topic.
Note-taker: we’ll nominate one person as a note-taker to keep notes of what was discussed and email the group afterwards, so nothing gets forgotten.
Apart from the person in the Hot Seat, the other three participants will be asking questions and sharing their advice.
How
The group will meet for about 1 hour, with these timings:
- Introductions (5 mins)
- Business overview (10 mins)
- Clarifying questions (10 mins)
- Discussion (30 mins)
- Actions (10 mins)
- Close (5 mins)
We will wrap up with a couple of minutes to discuss whether the session was useful and what could be improved.
Confidentiality: nobody will be expected to reveal any confidential data/business plans/financials. Also each participant will agree not to share details of the others’ businesses outside of the Hot Seat session.
